"The boycott will exclude medicines but will extend to banning Danish companies from taking part in Libya's 150 billion dinar, five-year development program," the government said in a statement published in local dailies on Tuesday, June 10. Tripoli described the move as a protest against the reprinting of the controversial cartoons by Denmark's main dailies in February. The blasphemous drawings, including one showing a man described as the Prophet with a ticking bomb in his turban, were commission and printed by the mass-circulation Jyllands-Posten in 2005. During the 2005 crisis, Muslims worldwide boycotted Danish products causing Danish companies nearly $1.5 million a day in losses.
